SlashZero

A brand-new anime-styled roguelike action platformer has entered the spotlight. During the Future Games Show Spring Showcase 2026, publisher Skystone Games and developer Streetlamp Studio officially unveiled SlashZero, a fast-paced 3D roguelike that blends high-octane combat with stylish anime visuals.

Described as a “Triple I” project, the upcoming title promises to push the boundaries of the side-scrolling roguelike genre by merging precision platforming with a fully realized 3D cyberpunk world. The game is currently in development for PC and consoles, with a Steam playtest expected soon.

A Cyberpunk City Trapped in a Time Loop

In SlashZero, players take on the role of a mysterious Timehacker, a warrior caught in an endless time loop within a sprawling neon-lit metropolis.

The city constantly resets as timelines fracture and reality begins to collapse. To restore the flow of time, players must break into parallel timelines, uncover the hidden cause of the catastrophe, and rewrite the fate of the future.

This narrative framework brings together roguelike replayability with deeper storytelling elements, as each run through the city reveals new fragments of the mystery.

A New Evolution of Side-Scrolling Roguelike Combat

While many roguelikes rely on 2D pixel art, SlashZero takes a different approach by delivering a fully 3D anime-inspired visual style.

The game’s combat system emphasizes vertical mobility and fluid aerial attacks, allowing players to move dynamically through environments rather than remaining confined to a flat plane.

Key gameplay elements include:

  • Fast-paced side-scrolling combat enhanced by a 3D environment
  • A deep move set with aerial and charged attacks
  • High-mobility traversal across futuristic cityscapes
  • Skill-based encounters that reward precision and timing

The result is a combat system designed to feel both cinematic and mechanically demanding, combining stylish action with strategic positioning.

The “Triple I” Vision

According to Streetlamp Studio, SlashZero represents their ambition to deliver a “Triple I” experience—an indie project with production values approaching big-budget titles.

Producer Jun from Streetlamp Studio explained the vision behind the project:

“We wanted to push the boundaries of the side-scrolling roguelite. By investing in high-quality 3D animation and launching simultaneously on PC and console, we’re delivering a prestige experience that rewards skill with visual spectacle.”

This focus on production quality is evident in the game’s anime-inspired character designs, smooth animations, and detailed cyberpunk environments.

Procedurally Generated Runs Keep Every Playthrough Fresh

Like many roguelike games, SlashZero uses a procedural generation system to ensure that no two runs are the same.

Players can expect:

  • Ever-changing environments
  • Randomized enemy encounters
  • Synergistic power-ups and upgrades
  • New challenges that evolve with each run

This system encourages experimentation with builds and strategies as players attempt to survive longer and uncover more secrets hidden within the city.

Built for a Simultaneous PC and Console Launch

Another major focus for the developers is delivering performance parity across multiple platforms.

SlashZero is being built for a simultaneous launch across major storefronts, including:

  • Steam
  • Epic Games Store
  • PlayStation consoles

By targeting multiple platforms from the start, Streetlamp Studio aims to ensure the same level of gameplay performance and visual fidelity regardless of where players choose to experience the game.

Steam Wishlist and Upcoming Playtest

Following its reveal at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase 2026, SlashZero is now available to wishlist on Steam.

The developers have also confirmed that a Steam playtest is coming soon, giving players an early opportunity to explore the cyberpunk world, experiment with its combat system, and provide feedback ahead of launch.

More details about the game’s story, mechanics, and timeline-hopping gameplay are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
