Fans of retro arcade shooters, rejoice — the skies are calling once again. Red Art Games has officially announced that Sonic Wings Reunion, the latest entry in the long-running Aero Fighters series, will be landing on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 across Western territories on October 7, 2025.
Developed by Japanese veterans SUCCESS and released in partnership with HAMSTER Corporation, Sonic Wings Reunion brings classic shoot-’em-up chaos to modern platforms with a blend of nostalgic design, new features, and fully modernized enhancements. Best of all, it’s getting both digital and physical releases, with several physical editions planned for Europe.
✈️ A Legendary Shoot-’Em-Up Franchise Returns
Known in Japan as Sonic Wings and in the West as Aero Fighters, this series helped define the vertical-scrolling shooter genre in arcades. Now, with Sonic Wings Reunion, the saga continues with a global conflict, new playable heroes, and an all-new threat from the mysterious organization Fata Morgana, which is wreaking havoc with advanced weapons and world-dominating tech.
Players will step into the cockpits of elite fighter pilots from the international task force Project Blue, defending cities across the globe in fast-paced, bullet-dodging, screen-filling action.
