Starship Troopers: Extermination Unleashes Massive Tactical Update in 1.4 — And 1.5 Is Already Locking On

Starship Troopers: Extermination

The war against the Arachnid menace is heating up once again. Starship Troopers: Extermination, the adrenaline-fueled co-op shooter from Offworld Industries and publisher Knights Peak, has just deployed its Update 1.4, bringing a wave of highly requested features, gameplay tweaks, and smarter alien AI. Even better? Update 1.5 is already locked in for deployment, promising major enhancements, new gear, and a total rework of the fan-favorite Hive Hunt mode.

Here’s everything you need to know about these back-to-back updates pushing the frontlines forward.

Update 1.4 Brings Tactical Tech and Smarter Threats

Offworld isn’t pulling any punches. With Update 1.4 now live, the battlefield is changing fast — and so is how troopers fight. From immersive new tools to quality-of-life improvements, here’s what’s new:

🎥 FedNet Heroism System

Every trooper is now a propaganda machine. Equip FedNet cameras to capture battlefield bravery in real-time. Footage boosts unit morale and XP gain, turning every mission into a potential recruitment reel. It’s flashy. It’s strategic. It’s pure Terran Federation.

🔧 New Weapon Customization: Morita MK1 Underbarrel

Veterans who’ve mastered the Morita MK1 (Weapon Mastery Level 6+) can now equip a lethal underbarrel attachment. This new module packs extra punch but comes with a tradeoff: slightly reduced accuracy while on the move due to the added weight.

🧠 Improved Bug AI and Pathfinding

Arachnids are smarter and more aggressive than ever. Expect fewer bugs getting stuck and more tactical swarm behavior—bad news for slackers.

🎮 Gameplay and Balancing Enhancements

From bug fixes to core mechanic refinements, the devs have made a suite of under-the-hood improvements aimed at streamlining combat and tightening squad coordination.

Update 1.5 Is Coming Soon – And It’s Game-Changing

Already confirmed to arrive shortly, Update 1.5 is shaping up to be the most impactful yet. It’s a massive step toward reworking Starship Troopers: Extermination into a more dynamic and large-scale cooperative warzone.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s coming:

🔫 New Weapon: Morita MK2

Straight from the silver screen, the Morita MK2 finally enters the game. This hard-hitting upgrade gives troopers a major firepower advantage, ideal for thinning out those ever-thickening Arachnid swarms.

🌌 Galactic Front Overhaul – Phase 1

Player feedback has reshaped how Company Operations function:

  • No More Purchases Needed – Company Ops will now be unlocked through milestone progression.
  • Quickplay Options – Get into the action faster with a new streamlined matchmaking system tailored to Company Ops.

☁️ Dynamic Sky System on Planet X-11

Environmental immersion is getting a boost with evolving, dynamic skies that shift in real time, adding tension and atmospheric flair to the battlefield.

Hive Hunt Expands to 16 Players in Major Revamp

One of the most requested changes is finally happening: Hive Hunt mode is becoming 16-player only starting with Update 1.5. Offworld is retooling the entire experience to match this expanded scale.

🔥 New Hive Hunt Mechanics

  • Nuke Delivery Missions – Players must physically carry nukes to each hive.
  • The rest of the team defends the carriers until detonation.
  • Updated Spawn Tables – Expect evolving difficulty; the devs warn the mode might feel temporarily easier before final balance hits in Update 1.6.

This is only Part 1 of the Hive Hunt overhaul, with Update 1.6 already in development to push the mode further into high-stakes, cinematic territory.

What Is Starship Troopers: Extermination?

Set in the universe of the cult classic 1997 film, Starship Troopers: Extermination is a squad-based FPS where players enlist as members of the Deep Space Vanguard. Together, they battle endless Arachnid threats on hostile alien worlds, build fortifications, and coordinate strikes to survive.
