After seven electrifying weeks of world-class competition, Team Falcons have claimed the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025) Club Championship, cementing their place as one of the most dominant esports organizations in history. The Saudi-based powerhouse walked away with the prestigious Club Championship Trophy and the massive $7 million grand prize, delivered on stage in Riyadh by none other than Cristiano Ronaldo and presented by HRH Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
A Historic Victory for Team Falcons
Team Falcons secured their victory with an impressive 5,200 points across 22 tournaments, including championship wins in Overwatch 2 and top-tier finishes in Dota 2, Chess, PUBG BATTLEGROUNDS, Rocket League, and Counter-Strike 2. Their consistency across multiple titles gave them the edge over fierce rivals:
- Team Liquid – 4,200 points
- Team Vitality – 4,050 points
- Twisted Minds – 3,200 points
- Virtus.pro – 3,200 points
The title race remained tight until the final week, but Team Falcons sealed their victory when Team Liquid’s Alan “Nephew” Sun was eliminated from Street Fighter 6, ending Liquid’s hopes of an upset.
Record-Breaking Viewership and Global Impact
The second edition of the Esports World Cup shattered records:
- 750 million total viewers

Peak viewership hit 7.98 million during Gen.G Esports’ dominant League of Legends run in Week 2, further cementing the EWC as one of the biggest sports events in the world.
A Showcase of Esports Legends and Rising Stars
EWC 2025 wasn’t just about the team competition—it was also a celebration of global esports talent:
- Magnus Carlsen triumphed in the inaugural Chess tournament.
- Rasyah “Rasyah” Rasyid, just 15 years old, became the youngest MVP in EWC history.
- Joona “serral” Sotala dominated StarCraft II, proving his GOAT status.
- Manuel “ManuBachoore” Bachoore made history as the first-ever two-time EA FC world champion.
Over 2,000 players from 100 countries and 200 Clubs competed across 25 tournaments, battling for a record-breaking $70+ million prize pool, the largest in esports history.
Esports Meets Culture and Entertainment
Beyond the competition, EWC 2025 blurred the lines between sport, entertainment, and pop culture. The Opening Ceremony featured performances from Post Malone and DINO of SEVENTEEN, with nine concerts produced alongside GEA and MDLBEAST.
Gaming icons and global stars also graced the stage, including Tony Hawk, Lando Norris, Gerard Piqué, Kaká, Alisha Lehmann, Nick Kyrgios, David Harbour, the Sidemen, and even legendary game creator Hideo Kojima.
The new broadcast format EWC Spotlight brought the festival to life for a worldwide audience, producing 7,000 hours of live content across 97 partners in 35 languages—second only to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Looking Ahead: EWC 2026 Returns to Riyadh
The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) confirmed that the EWC will return from July 6 – August 23, 2026, once again hosted in Riyadh. With its rapid growth and unprecedented scale, the EWC is already shaping up to be esports’ equivalent of the Olympics.
Ralf Reichert, CEO of EWCF, summed it up best:
“After just two years, the Esports World Cup is no longer a bold idea—it’s the foundation of a global sport. And in 2026, we’ll take it even further, together.”
