Team Spirit Dominate MLBB Continental Championship Season 5 – Set Sights on Second World Title at EWC

Team Spirit

Team Spirit have once again cemented their status as the kings of Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) after an emphatic 4-0 sweep over Virtus.pro in the Grand Finals of the MLBB Continental Championship (MCC) Season 5. The dominant victory marks Team Spirit’s fifth straight MCC title—a milestone achievement in regional MLBB esports—and locks in their place on the Main Stage of the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) at the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC).

Held in Riyadh from 23 July to 2 August, MSC at EWC 25 is set to offer a jaw-dropping USD 3 million (~MYR 14 million) prize pool, and Team Spirit is charging in with one goal: to win their second MLBB world title.

Team Spirit’s Championship Run: Undefeated and Untouchable

Previously known as Deus Vult, Team Spirit have been rewriting history books since their rebrand. After capturing the first-ever MLBB Super-Cup Invitational (MSI) title earlier this year—defeating China’s DianFengYaoGuai (DFYG) in a 4-0 masterclass—they’ve now added another trophy to their cabinet with a similar sweep of Virtus.pro in the MCC Season 5 Grand Finals.

Although Virtus.pro showed grit, they were outclassed by Team Spirit’s razor-sharp strategy and impeccable coordination. The turning point came in Game 4, when Team Spirit reversed an early game deficit with a critical Turtle steal and map control at the 8-minute mark, flipping the script and snowballing into a decisive win. A failed ambush by Virtus.pro at minute 17 sealed their fate, as their EXP laner BadKot was left to make a heroic—but futile—last stand against the full might of Team Spirit.

Grand Finals MVP: Alexander “ONESHOT” Sharkov Shines

Jungler Alexander “ONESHOT” Sharkov walked away with Finals MVP (FMVP) honors after a standout performance that saw him secure all but one neutral objective in the series. His map control and objective dominance laid the foundation for Team Spirit’s championship win.

The full roster of Team Spirit includes:

  • Alexander “ONESHOT” Sharkov (Jungler)
  • Kemiran “SunsetLover” Kochkarov (Gold Lane)
  • Anton “Hiko” Pak (EXP Lane)
  • Mathaios “KidBomba” Chatzilakos (Mid Lane)
  • Stanislav “SAWO” Reshnyak (Roamer)

A Historic Season for EECA MLBB

This season of MCC marked a pivotal evolution for the EECA MLBB ecosystem. It became the first MLBB league to adopt the Brave Draft system, which bans teams from repeating heroes across a series. This change encouraged diversified team compositions and deeper strategic depth, setting a new benchmark for competitive play in the region.

Ajay Jilka, Head of Esports – EECA at MOONTON Games, reflected on the milestone season:

“Season 5 has been our most competitive yet. From Brave Draft to the revamped league structure, we’ve challenged our players to evolve—and they’ve delivered. Team Spirit continues to set the standard, and with them representing EECA at MSC at EWC 25, the region is ready for another historic push on the global stage.”

Virtus.pro: From Underdogs to Contenders

Virtus.pro’s journey to the Grand Finals was equally commendable. Rising from the Closed Qualifiers and a fifth-place Regular Season finish, they powered through the Lower Bracket to earn their final shot at glory. Despite two losses to Team Spirit in the Playoffs—including a nail-biting 2-3 earlier matchup—Virtus.pro’s resilience earned them the Wild Card slot for MSC at EWC 25.

The Road to Riyadh: What’s Next for Team Spirit?

With a dominant regional track record and fresh off an international title win at MSI, Team Spirit now sets its sights on Riyadh and a potential second MLBB world championship. At MSC 2024, the event drew a record-breaking 2.38 million Peak Concurrent Viewers (PCV) and 29 million Hours Watched (HW)—making it the most-watched title at the EWC, according to Esports Charts.

If Team Spirit can maintain their current momentum, they could solidify themselves as one of the greatest dynasties in MLBB history.
