The highly anticipated real-time strategy game, Tempest Rising, has just released a new demo as part of Steam Next Fest. Developed by Slipgate Ironworks and published by Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label in partnership with Knights Peak, this modern RTS promises to be a spiritual successor to the classics of the ‘90s and 2000s. The demo is available now until March 10, offering a taste of the single-player campaign and skirmish modes before the full game launches on April 24, 2025.
Set in an alternate-history 1997 where the Cuban Missile Crisis went nuclear, Tempest Rising features fast-paced, fluid RTS warfare. Players can experience the first two missions from each of the game’s two single-player campaigns, playing as either the Global Defense Forces (GDF) or the Tempest Dynasty (DYN), each with unique units and strategies. The demo also includes a PvE skirmish mode with three maps, allowing players to face off against the AI.
Tempest Rising is now available for pre-order on Steam. The Standard Edition, priced at $39.99, includes two faction-based campaigns, skirmish mode, and competitive multiplayer. The Deluxe Edition, available for $49.99, offers additional perks such as:
- One week of advanced access to the full game, including multiplayer and skirmish mode
- A digital artbook showcasing the art and lore of Tempest Rising
- The full digital game soundtrack, featuring 41 tracks from legendary Command & Conquer composer Frank Klepacki and other community favorites
Pre-ordering either edition unlocks the “Commander Pack” DLC at no extra charge, featuring exclusive in-game cosmetics, including bonus player icons, skins, cursors, and more.
