Eligibility Requirements for Indie Developers
To qualify for SELECTED INDIE 80 at Tokyo Game Show 2026, applicants must meet the following conditions:
Developer Eligibility
- Ability to exhibit physically at Makuhari Messe for all five event days
- Annual sales limits:
- Corporations: Approximately 50 million yen or less
- Individuals: Approximately 10 million yen or less
- Corporate applicants must be fully independent in capital structure
Eligible Game Titles
- Completely original games only
- No fan-made or derivative works permitted
- Titles must be developed for platforms where the applicant holds development rights
- Games must comply with CESA and CERO ethical standards
Titles with excessive violence, adult-only ratings, or content incompatible with a 13+ rating will not be accepted.
Automatic Entry Into SENSE OF WONDER NIGHT 2026
All SELECTED INDIE 80 titles will automatically qualify for SENSE OF WONDER NIGHT (SOWN) 2026, a celebrated indie game presentation event now entering its 19th year.
