Led by industry veteran Leah Hoyer, the Seattle-based studio is introducing a fresh spin on the genre—one where caring for magical creatures doesn’t just help them grow… it powers you up, too.
A Colorful Co-Op Adventure Where Teamwork Is Everything
Whimpact! transports players into a bright, whimsical world where cooperation takes center stage. Up to eight players can join forces in online multiplayer arenas, battling quirky robotic foes while completing Easter-egg-style scavenger hunts that reward coordination, speed, and creativity.
The game’s announcement trailer sets the tone: high-energy action, imaginative environments, and endearing companion creatures known as Whims, who play a central role in your journey through The Beyond.

Unlike traditional creature-collection games, Whimpact! flips expectations. Instead of giving power to your companions, your companions give power to you.
Each Whim grants unique abilities—from higher jumps to enhanced speed, extra damage resistance, and more. With the option to equip two Whims at a time and freely swap them on the fly, players can experiment with countless combinations to suit their playstyle.
Caring for your Whims makes them stronger, and the stronger they become, the better your performance in the arena. It’s a fresh gameplay loop centered on nurturing, strategy, and player creativity.

Whimpact!’s development journey is as inspiring as its gameplay. Originally created under Leah Hoyer’s leadership during her time at Wizards of the Coast, the game faced cancellation after the closure of the company’s new IP studio. Hoyer later secured the rights to continue the project independently through her own studio, Level Headed Games.
