HoYoverse is closing out the year in style as Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5, titled “To Be Fuel for the Night,” officially launches on December 30, 2025. The highly anticipated update marks the dramatic climax of Season 2, delivering new story revelations, expanded multiplayer gameplay, sweeping optimizations, and generous New Year rewards — including a free S-Rank Agent.
With the debut of Ye Shunguang, the game’s first dual-form Void Hunter, Version 2.5 represents one of the most ambitious updates yet for HoYoverse’s urban fantasy action RPG.
Version 2.5 Marks the Climactic Finale of Season 2
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5 propels Proxies into the final chapter of the Waifei Peninsula storyline, where escalating threats converge into a high-stakes showdown. The update deepens the mystery surrounding the Qingming Sword, an ancient artifact now resonating with the primordial power of the Creator — a force that once aided Proxies but now threatens devastating consequences.
As strange white flowers begin blooming across Failume Heights, the dangerous expansion of the Lemnian Hollow becomes impossible to ignore. Proxies will venture into the ruins of Lumite Mine, using newly introduced Perception Techniques and teaming up with allies to uncover the truth buried deep within the Hollow.
Meet Ye Shunguang, Zenless Zone Zero’s First Dual-Form Void Hunter
The centerpiece of Version 2.5 is the arrival of Ye Shunguang, a prodigy from Yunkui Summit and the game’s first-ever dual-form Void Hunter. Equipped with the exclusive Honed Edge attribute, Ye Shunguang can enter an Enlightened Mind state, activating her signature Ether Veil to unleash devastating damage while applying vulnerability effects to enemies.
Her combat style blends speed, precision, and tactical depth, making her one of the most complex and powerful agents introduced so far. Joining her in battle is Bangboo Sprout, a unique companion that supports her attacks with volleys of flying swords.
Free S-Rank Agent Zhao and New Year Rewards Await Proxies
To celebrate the arrival of 2026 and thank the community, HoYoverse is offering a suite of generous rewards in Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5. All players will receive:

Zhao, the unbeaten legend of Krampus, is an S-Rank Ice Defense Agent who combines agility with overwhelming strength. Despite her cute appearance, she dominates the battlefield using a massive weapon to suppress enemies. By building up Frostbite, Zhao can trigger Ether Veil: Wellspring, granting powerful buffs to the entire squad.
New Events Expand Multiplayer and Cooperative Gameplay
Version 2.5 introduces several highly anticipated events that expand both solo and cooperative play. The limited-time multiplayer event Joint Investigation: The Divine Maze brings fast-paced three-player cooperative combat, challenging squads to coordinate attacks and timing for maximum rewards.
The story continues in the Sword Seeker Chronicles epilogue, where Proxies assist Ye Shunguang in searching for a cure to the Qingming Sword’s dangerous backlash. This investigation highlights her Bladeflash Mirage ability and rewards players with an exclusive new W-Engine.
Outside of combat, the newly added Proxy Outpost system allows players to create or join outposts, post commissions, and engage in discussions, making New Eridu feel more connected than ever.
Major Quality-of-Life Improvements and Agent Enhancements
Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.5 delivers substantial quality-of-life upgrades aimed at refining combat and progression. Several existing agents — including Soldier 11, Grace, Soldier 0 – Anby, Ellen, and Burnice — receive performance enhancements and mechanical updates, with more improvements planned for future patches.
Additional gameplay refinements include:
- Improvements to Shiyu Defense and Deadly Assault
- A new sweep function for Combat Simulation stages
- Faster material and Drive Disc farming using Ether Batteries

Limited-Time Banners and Guaranteed S-Rank Reruns
To help Proxies strengthen their squads, Version 2.5 introduces a lineup of limited-time channels. Ye Shunguang and Zhao’s banners will be available throughout the entire update.
Later in the version, a special rerun channel guarantees that the first S-Rank signal obtained will be one of the selected characters — Alice, Soldier 0 – Anby, or Astra — along with their signature W-Engines returning under the same guarantee system.
