Fizzy Frenzy Captain Soda Launches Kickstarter for 2025 Release

A wave of bubbly chaos is about to crash onto PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox, as Captain Soda kicks off its Kickstarter campaign, promising a 2025 launch for the arcade shooter inspired by the classic “Super Crate Box.” Indie game publisher Leoful and solo developer Ray Flower Games have unveiled a new piece of key artwork, showcasing a team of soda heroes ready to defend Earth from an alien invasion, and are inviting players to join the fight.

From March 19th to April 19th, 2025, backers can support the campaign, aiming to raise approximately USD 4,500. A variety of rewards are on offer, including a Nintendo Switch physical copy with backer-exclusive soda hero stickers, and a digital Original Soundtrack composed by Aleix Ramon.

Captain Soda is an arcade platform shooter that puts players in the role of a pop bottle hero, battling an alien force. The game features a full campaign mode across three worlds, as well as a rogue-like Endless mode for those seeking a never-ending challenge. Players can experience the game’s fluid animations, bubbly sound effects, and fast-paced action in the reveal trailer.

The game boasts a range of soda heroes with unique abilities, flashy weapons, and powerful upgrades. Players can “satisfy their thirst for violence” by destroying alien invaders with short-range, long-range, and melee weapons. From exploding cans to soda-powered jetpacks and vending machine flatteners, the arsenal is as varied as it is destructive.

“Mix, match, and upgrade” is a core gameplay element, allowing players to customize their soda heroes with over 14 accessories and upgrades, such as CO2 Boost Boots and Effervescent Wings. The “intense heart-racing campaign” takes players through three diverse areas with carbonated themes, featuring over 60 optional missions, item shops, and secret upgrades.

The “never-ending Endless mode” offers a rogue-like experience, where players face increasingly difficult waves of enemies and compete for high scores on a global leaderboard. Inspired by “Super Crate Box,” Captain Soda “elevates the genre” with a full-fledged campaign, enhanced visuals, new enemies, mechanics, customizable loadouts, and an expanded screen-wrapping mechanic.

“Fun and accessible for all” is a key design principle. With a range of difficulty options, aim assist, enemy movement speed adjustments, and color blind mode, Captain Soda caters to players of all skill levels.

Players can support the Kickstarter campaign now and play the demo and wishlist Captain Soda on Steam. The demo features three levels from the full game, providing a taste of the fizzy action to come.
