Team Spirit are one step closer to making Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Esports history after capturing the MCC Season 8 championship, putting themselves in position to pursue the coveted Golden Road at the upcoming M8 World Championship in January 2027.
The team secured the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Continental Championships (MCC) Season 8 title with a commanding 4–0 victory over Aurevia Team in the Grand Finals on November 1, 2026. The championship also earned Team Spirit a direct qualification to the M8 Main Stage in Istanbul, Türkiye.
However, their latest trophy represents more than another regional championship. Team Spirit now have an opportunity to become the first team in MLBB Esports history to complete the Golden Road, an achievement that requires winning all major regional and international tournaments within a single competitive year.
Team Spirit’s Golden Road Dream Heads to M8 World Championship
Team Spirit’s pursuit of the Golden Road is particularly significant for the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) region. The organization has already established itself as a major international contender, becoming the first team outside Asia to win a major international MLBB tournament after claiming the Mid Season Cup (MSC) at the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC).
With the MCC Season 8 championship now secured, the team has one final opportunity to complete its historic run at the M8 World Championship.
The roster combines experienced veterans with emerging talent. Mid Laner Kemiran “Sunset Lover” Kochkarov and Roamer Stanislav “SAWO” Reshniak have competed together since the inaugural M Series tournament, the M1 World Championship in 2019.
They will be joined by Anton “Hiko” Pak as Gold Laner, Mathaios “Kid Bomba” Chatzilakos as EXP Laner, and Zaur “zauregoist” Magomadov as Jungler.
The upcoming M8 will also carry additional significance for the veteran duo, as the tournament marks the first M Series championship to be held in Europe.
EECA Secures Three Representatives at M8
While Team Spirit will headline the region’s Golden Road campaign, the MCC Season 8 results also highlight the growing strength of the EECA competitive scene.
For the first time, the region will have three representatives at an international M Series tournament. Alongside Team Spirit’s Main Stage qualification, Aurevia Team and Team Yandex will compete in the M8 Wild Card, which will take place in Bangkok, Thailand.
Aurevia Team earned its Wild Card spot after finishing second in MCC Season 8. The organization brings international experience to the competition, with several players having previously won the MSC at the EWC 2025 Wild Card during their international debut.
Aurevia Team’s M8 roster features Aleksandra “Kerrigan” Fokina as Substitute, Denis “BadKot” Bogomolov as EXP Laner, Dmitrii “Bober” Beliaev as Mid Laner, Eduard “Magistor” Rukosuev as Jungler, Egor “Super Egorka” Bugaev as Marksman, and Stanislav “Fangor” Gorin as Roamer.
Meanwhile, Team Yandex will make its M Series debut with a lineup that previously secured qualification for the MSC at the EWC 2026 Wild Card.
Supported by one of the region’s major technology companies, the team continues to expand its presence in international MLBB Esports. Its roster consists of Aleksandr “Yustinian” Markov as Jungler, Andrey “A F K” Loginov as Roamer, Atalaev “Castle” Ramazan as EXP Laner, Ermek “Kodjikk” Baibulsinov as Mid Laner, Timur “Black march” Falin as Gold Laner, and Ruslan “Marbon” Gabdrakhmanov as Substitute.
The presence of three EECA teams at the M8 reflects the region’s increasing competitive depth, giving more organizations the opportunity to challenge established international contenders.
M8 World Championship Brings MLBB Esports to Europe
The M8 World Championship will introduce a new chapter for MLBB Esports as the competition expands beyond its traditional Asian hosting locations.
With the Wild Card taking place in Bangkok before the Main Stage moves to Istanbul, the M8 will become the first M Series tournament to span two continents. The move represents another major milestone in the game’s international expansion and growing esports presence.
According to Ajay Jilka, Head of Esports for Eastern Europe & Central Asia (EECA), Türkiye, and Western Europe at MOONTON Games, developing competitive ecosystems across different regions remains central to the company’s global growth strategy.
“Our approach to global growth starts with building competitive depth in each region. We’ve worked towards an ecosystem where a league like MCC can produce contenders for the biggest titles. The region’s progress shows the potential of that approach, giving fans more reasons to follow the league and clubs and partners greater confidence in EECA’s competitive future.
“Bringing the M8 outside of Asia allows us to build on that foundation and turn competitive credibility into a lasting presence in the market. We want the attention around the M8 to translate into stronger engagement with our regional leagues and deeper commercial relationships that continue beyond the tournament. That’s how we see Europe contributing to the next decade of growth for MLBB Esports.”
The expansion into Europe is expected to provide additional opportunities for regional leagues, esports organizations, commercial partners, and fans to become more involved in the MLBB competitive ecosystem.
M8 World Championship Set for January 2027
The M8 World Championship is scheduled to take place in January 2027 in Istanbul, Türkiye, where 16 of the world’s leading MLBB teams will compete on the Main Stage for the world championship title.
The tournament follows the record-setting M7 World Championship, which attracted more than 5.68 million peak concurrent viewers (PCV), according to Esports Charts, making it the most-watched mobile esports tournament in the world at the time.
As MLBB Esports continues to expand into new markets, the M8 represents an important opportunity to strengthen its international presence while showcasing the growing competitiveness of regions beyond Southeast Asia.
For Team Spirit, however, the stakes are even higher. Their MCC Season 8 victory has brought them within reach of an achievement no MLBB team has accomplished before.
With the Golden Road still within sight, all eyes will be on Istanbul to see whether Team Spirit can turn an already historic year into an unprecedented championship run.
