The cat is officially out of the bag. Atari and indie studio Fabraz have confirmed that Bubsy 4D will launch worldwide on May 22, 2026, marking the long-awaited return of the iconic bobcat in his first full 3D adventure in nearly three decades.
The colorful platformer will release across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, making it one of Atari’s most widely available releases of the year.
Bubsy’s First 3D Adventure Since 1996
Bubsy 4D brings the franchise back into the spotlight with a modernized take on classic 3D platforming. It’s Bubsy’s first true 3D outing since 1996, blending nostalgic charm with contemporary movement mechanics, expressive visuals, and the character’s unmistakable humor.
According to the developers, the goal is clear: deliver the Bubsy game fans have been waiting for—one that balances fast-paced platforming with playful personality and polished level design.
Physical Collector’s Editions Available for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
To celebrate the announcement, Atari has opened pre-orders for a physical Collector’s Edition of Bubsy 4D on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Pricing is set at $39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99 for Nintendo Switch and $49.99 / €49.99 / £44.99 for Nintendo Switch 2. Both editions share a May 22, 2026 street date, matching the global launch.
A Colorful Platforming Adventure Across Alien Worlds
In Bubsy 4D, players join the wisecracking bobcat on a mission to reclaim the legendary Golden Fleece from the mischievous BaaBots. The journey spans multiple alien planets, each packed with vibrant, fabric-inspired environments and imaginative level themes.
Gameplay emphasizes fluid movement, allowing Bubsy to run, jump, glide, and roll with precision. Each planet concludes with a unique BaaBot boss fight, pushing players to master Bubsy’s abilities and timing.
