G-bits Game Development Contest 2025: A Global Stage for Aspiring Developers

G-bits Games, a prominent game company in China, has launched the G-bits Game Development Contest 2025, offering an exciting international platform for budding game developers. Running from March 3 to July 22, this contest is a golden opportunity for students enrolled in higher education to showcase their talents and network with industry professionals.

The contest is designed to support start-up student game developers from various educational levels, including foundation, undergraduate, masters, and doctorate students. Participants must provide their enrollment information to qualify.

One of the largest gatherings of game developers from Chinese universities, this contest will see winners selected from both the itch.io group and across China. Participants can join individually or in teams of up to five members. The event is divided into two stages:

  • Preliminaries: From March 3, 2025, at 12:00 AM to May 15, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Submit your game on itch.io. The top 10 teams will be invited to China for the final round.
  • Finals: From July 17, 2025, to July 22, 2025. This stage includes a six-day, five-night game development trip to China, with all accommodation and meals covered. Participants will have the chance to chat face-to-face with famous Chinese game producers and develop a game in 48 hours. Travel reimbursement of up to $700 USD is also provided.

This year, G-bits has invited seven renowned game producers as special guests, including He Bin (producer of “Lost Castle”), Kat (co-producer of “Dyson Sphere Program”), Zhang San (producer of “Tale of Immortal”), Li Zi (producer of “Warm Snow”), Chen Zhen (co-producer of “Murders on the Yangtze River”), Jiang Lei (producer of “BlazBlue Entropy Effect”), and Luo Xiangyu (producer of “Showa American Story”). These experts will serve as judges, playtest the games, and share their development experiences.

The contest offers a range of prizes:

    • 1st Place: $10,000+ USD
    • 2nd Place: $2,500+ USD
    • 3rd Place: $1,000+ USD
    • Best Game Art: $250+ USD
    • Best Theme Interpretation: $250+ USD
    • Worthy Opponent Award: $100+ USD

    • Best Game: $600+ USD
