The summer season in Genshin Impact is about to get a refreshing twist. HoYoverse has officially revealed Version 5.8: Sunspray Summer Resort, arriving July 30, 2025, and it’s packed with beachside fun, a new permanent island map, festive mini-games, generous rewards, and the debut of a brand-new character: Ineffa, the first from the mysterious Nod-Krai region.
Whether you’re here for the exploration, combat, or character lore, this update promises a breezy yet story-rich experience that expands the world of Teyvat in vibrant, colorful ways.
Welcome to Easybreeze Holiday Resort – Natlan’s New Permanent Map
Travelers will soon be able to set sail to Easybreeze Holiday Resort, a sun-kissed island just off the coast of Natlan. Unlike past temporary summer maps, this one is permanent, giving players more freedom to explore without the rush.
The resort offers multi-layered exploration supported by “Asha”, the adorable resort mascot who grants gliding and hovering abilities. Asha’s colorful spray-painting skills also reveal hidden paths and puzzles — and possibly even secrets tied to the ancient Mare Jivari and a new boss: Bakunawa, an ageless sea creature lurking beneath the waves.
Expect returning characters like Bennett, Chasca, Mualani, and even Venti, who seems to be visiting for personal reasons revealed in the new Story Quest: Sunspray Summer Resort.
Mini-Games, Rewards, and New Gear Await
Seasonal events in Version 5.8 are all about fun and flair. Complete mini-games such as:
- “Travels Are Fuller With Friends” – guide creatures Kau Kau and Akamai
- “Strikers Through the Storm” – test your aim
- Music parties and Asha paint challenges
Participating in these will earn Sunspray Spirit, which can be redeemed for exciting rewards — including the event-exclusive 4-star Claymore “Flame-Forged Insight” and Bennett’s new outfit, “Adventures in Blazing Hue.”
Meet Ineffa – Genshin’s First Nod-Krai Character
The update also marks the beginning of the Nod-Krai storyline with the chapter “The Journey Home,” featuring Ineffa — a multi-functional robot created by Aino, a tech prodigy from Nod-Krai. Ineffa is not just a story companion but a 5-star Electro polearm user with a fresh Elemental mechanic.
Her new elemental reaction, Lunar-Charged, upgrades the traditional Electro-Charged combo by summoning a Thundercloud that deals continuous AoE Electro DMG and can CRIT enemies affected by Electro and Hydro.
In combat, Ineffa uses her assistant unit Birgitta to unleash bursts of AoE Electro attacks, made even deadlier when Lunar-Charged Thunderclouds are nearby. She’ll headline the first banner phase alongside a rerun of Citlali, while Mualani and Chasca return in Phase Two.
HoYoverse has also teased a small preview of what is to come for Nod-Krai with a short video after the Version 5.8 Special Program.
Yelan Gets a Summer Makeover
Also making waves is Yelan, who enters the Fontaine spotlight with a sleek new outfit, “Tranquil Banquet.” Players can get this Fontaine-style skin at a special limited-time discount. She also gets a unique photography gadget that reveals hidden traces, likely tied to a new world quest or mystery.
New Systems and Streamlined Features
To make gameplay smoother, Version 5.8 introduces several quality-of-life enhancements:
- Cloud-streamed tutorial videos on character Trial and Talent screens
- Auto-time navigation for quests
- Improved local specialty tracking based on characters’ abilities
These additions aim to help both newcomers and veterans optimize their experience across all regions.
Cross-Platform, Cross-Progression Fun
As always, Genshin Impact remains fully playable with cross-progression and Co-Op across PlayStation®, Xbox, PC, Android, and iOS. The game is rated T for Teen by ESRB and 12+ on iOS.
