PUBG MOBILE LIGHT is set to give mobile battle royale fans a faster and more accessible way to drop into the action, with a lightweight app designed to preserve the core PUBG MOBILE experience while using significantly less storage.
Announced on August 25, PUBG MOBILE LIGHT is now available for pre-registration on the App Store and Google Play ahead of its planned launch in November 2026. The new version is built around speed, efficiency, and flexibility, targeting players who want the familiar PUBG MOBILE experience without the larger storage requirements of the standard application.
PUBG MOBILE LIGHT Keeps the Core Battle Royale Experience
Despite its smaller footprint, PUBG MOBILE LIGHT is designed to retain the gameplay that made PUBG MOBILE one of the biggest names in mobile gaming.
Players will be able to jump into classic battle royale matches on Erangel, with up to 100 players competing either solo or as part of a team. As usual, players will need to land, search for weapons and supplies, navigate the shrinking play zone, and outlast their opponents to claim victory.
The difference is that PUBG MOBILE LIGHT has been designed to get players into those matches faster.
Less Storage, Faster Downloads, and Shorter Loading Times
One of the biggest features of PUBG MOBILE LIGHT is its reduced storage requirement.
The application has been optimised to require less than 1GB of download space on Android and less than 2GB on iOS. Faster downloads and reduced loading times are also intended to make the game more accessible to players using devices with limited storage or hardware capabilities.
Rather than requiring players to download everything at once, PUBG MOBILE LIGHT will allow additional content to be downloaded on demand.
Maps such as Miramar and Sanhok, along with modes including Team Deathmatch and Metro Royale, can be downloaded when players want to access them. This approach gives players more control over how much storage the game occupies on their devices.
PUBG MOBILE LIGHT Will Share the PUBG MOBILE Ecosystem
For existing PUBG MOBILE players, switching to the lighter version won’t mean starting over.
PUBG MOBILE LIGHT will share the same ecosystem as PUBG MOBILE, allowing players to sign in using their existing accounts. Friends lists, game data, and eligible assets will remain accessible, making it possible for players to move between the two versions according to their preferences.
The new application will also support cross-play with PUBG MOBILE, meaning players using PUBG MOBILE LIGHT can still squad up with friends playing the standard version.
This shared ecosystem could make PUBG MOBILE LIGHT particularly appealing to players who have friends on the main game but want a smaller and more efficient application on their own devices.
A More Flexible Way to Play PUBG MOBILE
Vincent Wang, Head of PUBG MOBILE Publishing at Tencent Games, said the new application is designed to give players greater control over how they experience the game.
“With PUBG MOBILE LIGHT, we’re empowering players to take control of their gameplay experience like never before,” Wang said.
He highlighted quick access, smoother performance, and flexibility as key goals for the new version, while stressing that PUBG MOBILE LIGHT is intended to preserve the core gameplay that existing players know.
The addition of cross-play also means the lighter application isn’t being positioned as an isolated version of PUBG MOBILE. Instead, it is designed to work alongside the existing game and provide players with another way to access the same ecosystem.
PUBG MOBILE LIGHT Pre-Registration Is Now Open
Pre-registration for PUBG MOBILE LIGHT began on August 25, 2026, through the App Store and Google Play. Closed beta testing will also be available in selected countries.
The full launch is scheduled for November 2026, giving players several months to prepare before the lightweight PUBG MOBILE experience officially arrives.
For players who have been held back by storage limitations or device performance, PUBG MOBILE LIGHT could offer an easier way to return to the battlefield without giving up the defining elements of PUBG MOBILE.
