What happens when you mash together a gameshow, a physics engine, and your closest friends? Absolute chaos. That’s the promise of Task Time, the newly announced party game from indie developer ReadGraves and award-winning publisher Wired Productions. Revealed during the PC Gaming Show: Tokyo Direct, Task Time is already giving players a chance to dive into the madness with its first-ever public playtest, live now on Steam for a limited time.
A Gameshow Gone Off the Rails
Task Time pits up to eight players—aka “Tasklings”—against each other in six frantic rounds of gameshow-inspired challenges. Unlike traditional party games, sabotage isn’t just allowed—it’s encouraged. With randomly generated tasks, physics-driven mechanics, and PvP chaos, no two matches ever play the same way.
From classrooms to seaside arenas, players can explore interactive environments stuffed with hundreds of obstacles, wacky props, and unpredictable twists. With over 500,000 possible task variations, you never quite know if you’ll be solving puzzles, dodging lava, or pelting your friends with paintballs.
“Task Time is competitive, chaotic, and completely unpredictable, where no two rounds are ever the same,” says Sam Read-Graves, creator at ReadGraves. “It’s an excuse to laugh at each other, celebrate glorious failures, and ruin your friends’ plans. Fairness doesn’t matter—funny stories do.”
Playtest Now, Shape the Chaos
The first Steam playtest is live now and runs until October 1, 2025, 10 AM BST, giving fans an exclusive hands-on look at Task Time’s early chaos. Players can join the official Discord to chat with developers, share feedback, and help shape the game before launch.
Wired Productions’ Leo Zullo praised the title’s infectious energy:
“I’ve seen members of the Wired team transform from quiet and measured souls into mouth-frothing, evil-laughing demons while playtesting Task Time. That’s all I needed to know ReadGraves had delivered a wonderfully chaotic party game.”
Why Task Time Stands Out
