Team Vitality have once again proven why they are the queens of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang women’s esports, successfully defending their MLBB Women’s International (MWI) title at the 2026 Esports World Cup in Paris.
Playing on home soil, the French esports organisation defeated Natus Vincere (NAVI) 4-2 in a thrilling Best-of-Seven Grand Finals series on July 18, securing back-to-back MWI championships and the lion’s share of the tournament’s US$500,000 prize pool.
Team Vitality Defend MWI Crown in Paris
Team Vitality’s latest victory marks the organisation’s fourth MWI championship, further strengthening its position as the most successful team in the history of the women’s MLBB tournament.
The win was made even more memorable by the tournament’s European debut at the Esports World Cup 2026. With the Grand Finals taking place in Paris, Team Vitality lifted the trophy in front of a home crowd while completing one of the most impressive title defences in women’s esports.
The 2026 edition also represented a major milestone for the competition. Formerly known as the MLBB Women’s Invitational, MWI has now evolved into a fully established global championship, giving the world’s best female MLBB players an even bigger international stage.
Vival Claims FMVP Award for the Second Time
Team Vitality jungler Viorelle “Vival” Chen once again delivered on the biggest stage, earning the Finals Most Valuable Player (FMVP) award.
The accolade marks the second time Vival has claimed the honour. She previously won the award at the inaugural MWI in 2022, making her the only player to earn the prestigious recognition twice.
Her performance was a key part of Team Vitality’s successful title defence as the Indonesian roster battled through a highly competitive 16-team Main Event.
“I am extremely proud of what this team has achieved, especially with the resilience they showed across such a demanding tournament,” said Danny Engels, Chief International Officer of Team Vitality. “For Vitality, this is also about helping push women’s esports further, not only in Southeast Asia but around the world. We want to play a role in growing the scene and be at the forefront of mobile gaming globally.”
Team Vitality and NAVI Renew a Major MLBB Rivalry
The MWI 2026 Grand Finals also reignited one of the most memorable rivalries in international MLBB esports.
Team Vitality’s Indonesian lineup faced the Philippines’ NAVI in a rematch of the 2024 MWI Grand Finals. NAVI, then competing as Smart Omega Empress, swept Team Vitality 3-0 in that series, ending the defending champions’ incredible 24-match international winning streak.
Two years later, Team Vitality finally settled the score with a 4-2 victory in Paris.
Indonesia and the Philippines have long been regarded as two of the strongest regions in competitive MLBB, producing some of the game’s most celebrated players and world champions. Their latest international clash once again highlighted the depth and quality of the global women’s MLBB scene.
MWI 2026 Breaks Viewership Records
Beyond the action on the battlefield, MWI at EWC 2026 also set new viewership records.
According to Esports Charts, the tournament recorded 5,070,965 Hours Watched, 129,472 Average Concurrent Viewers, and a Peak Concurrent Viewership of 565,526. These figures make MWI 2026 the most-watched edition in the tournament’s history.
The event’s viewership growth also highlighted the changing way fans consume esports. TikTok broadcasts accounted for four of the tournament’s five most-watched channels, underlining the platform’s growing importance for mobile-first esports audiences.
“MWI 2026 demonstrates just how quickly women’s esports continues to evolve on the global stage,” said Artyom Odintsov, Co-founder and CEO of Esports Charts. “MWI continues to demonstrate that short-form ecosystems are becoming not only a discovery channel, but also a destination for watching live competitions.”
EECA and Cambodia Enjoy Historic MWI Finishes
The 2026 MWI also delivered historic results for several regions outside the traditional MLBB powerhouses.
Geltek Cyber Team from Eastern Europe and Central Asia defeated Cambodia’s Galaxy Phoenix 3-0 in the Third Place Match to secure a podium finish.
The result marked the best-ever international finish for the EECA region in MLBB, while Galaxy Phoenix delivered Cambodia’s strongest performance yet on the global women’s MLBB stage.
With more regions competing at the highest level, MWI continues to expand the competitive pathway for female esports athletes around the world.
MSC at EWC 2026 Begins on July 22
The action at the 2026 Esports World Cup is far from over for MLBB fans.
The Mid Season Cup (MSC) at EWC 2026 begins on July 22, 2026, bringing together 16 of the world’s best MLBB teams for its European debut.
The Group Stage runs from July 22 to 26, followed by the Knockout Stage from July 29 to 31. The tournament will conclude on August 1 with a Best-of-Seven Grand Final to crown the next MSC champion.
Group B is already shaping up to be one of the event’s biggest storylines, with reigning champions Team Liquid PH and inaugural MSC at EWC winners Selangor Red Giants set to headline a stacked group of Southeast Asian powerhouses.
Following the record-breaking MWI 2026, MLBB enters the MSC with plenty of momentum. At EWC 2025, MSC and MWI combined for more than 50.32 million Hours Watched, accounting for over a quarter of the event’s total viewership across all game titles.
Tickets for MSC at EWC 2026 are currently available, with fans able to use the exclusive MLBB15 code for 15% off and experience the competition live in Paris.
