The First Descendant Unveils Major Updates and Exciting New Content

NEXON and NEXON Games have recently held a developer livestream for their popular free-to-play looter-shooter, The First Descendant. During the livestream, they provided a sneak peek at the upcoming Season 2 Episode 2, set to release in March, and announced a significant change to their Season Update Policy. Additionally, the development team has rolled out the Season 2 Week 11 Update, which includes new Valentine’s Day themed skins, a Winter Hot-springs area in Albion, new emotes, an Ultimate Weapon Rework, and more.

The developers have decided to shift away from the three-month seasonal update cycle, citing concerns about content scale and quality. As a result, the previously planned March update will now be rebranded as Season 2, Episode 2, with Season 3 scheduled for release this summer. Season 3 promises entirely new content, including a special 1st-Anniversary event and collaboration.

In the upcoming Season 2 Episode 2, players will embark on new missions in the Sigma Sector, uncover key clues about Dia, the daughter of Gley, and face a new enemy, Obliviant, a squad of Descendants controlled by the Vulgus. The update will also introduce a new fire-attribute Descendant named Serena, who can fly and use skills mid-air, and Ultimate Blair, a character bringing a comedic tone to the game. Additionally, a new Arche Fellow, a Labrador Retriever, will be available, offering unique gameplay enhancements.

The Season 2 Week 11 Update brings a host of new features, including Hot-springs Skins for both male and female Descendants, a Winter Hot-springs area in Albion with new emotes, and a special Valentine’s Day skin called ‘Lub-dub’. The update also includes an Ultimate Weapon Rework, improving weapons like Last Bastion, Sigvore’s Proof, and Restored Relic, along with a Rare Weapon Rebalance.

Players can participate in various events running from February 12 to March 12, including Operation Initiation, Operation: Daily Report, Operation: Kate’s Experiment Assistant, and Operation: Burning Embers. These events offer rewards such as special emotes, customization items, enhancement materials, and more.

The First Descendant, launched in July 2024, is a next-generation third-person co-op action RPG looter shooter developed using Unreal Engine 5. Players take on the role of Descendants, fighting against alien invaders known as the Vulgus to protect humanity and the continent of Ingris. The game features high-quality graphics, strategic 4-player boss fights, and a variety of missions and raids that contribute to character development.
