The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) announced the latest updates on September 10, including the official floor map, stage programs, live stream schedule, merchandise lineup, food court details, and the final wave of TGS BOOSTERZ creators.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Tokyo Game Show 2026 will take place from September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. The event will also introduce new experiences for creators, indie developers, esports fans, and families, making this milestone edition more than just a showcase of upcoming games.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 Sets New Records With 1,138 Exhibitors

Tokyo Game Show 2026 will feature 1,138 exhibitors from Japan and overseas, surpassing the previous year’s record. The lineup includes 540 Japanese companies and 598 international exhibitors, representing 53 countries and regions.

The event will also occupy 3,999 booths, making it the largest Tokyo Game Show to date. For the first time, the show will run across five consecutive days, from Thursday, September 17, through Monday, September 21, which is a national holiday in Japan.

The expanded format gives attendees more time to explore the show floor, experience upcoming games, and participate in anniversary activities.

Expanded Venue Brings More Gaming Experiences

The official Tokyo Game Show 2026 floor map is now available, covering Makuhari Messe Exhibition Halls 1–11, the International Conference Hall, and the newly added TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall.

The venue will feature several specialized areas, allowing visitors to explore different parts of the gaming industry, from major publishers and hardware manufacturers to indie developers and esports organizations.

Indie developers from around the world will take center stage in Halls 9–10, showcasing original games created by independent studios and small development teams.

The SELECTED INDIE 80 feature will highlight 80 officially selected titles on the second-floor Esplanade of Halls 9–10. Visitors can also playtest finalist games from SENSE OF WONDER NIGHT 2026, an initiative dedicated to breakthrough game ideas.

The five-day event will feature a full lineup of stage presentations, anniversary panels, industry discussions, and special guest appearances.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 will officially open on Thursday, September 17, with the Opening Ceremony scheduled from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. JST. On-site attendance for the ceremony is restricted to press and industry professionals.

The keynote speech, titled “30 Years of TGS and Proposals for 2056,” will follow from 11:00 to 11:50 a.m. The session will reflect on Tokyo Game Show’s journey since its inaugural event in 1996 and explore the future of Japan’s gaming industry toward 2056.

The presentation will showcase world details and gameplay footage for the upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw title, with guest cosplayers and a major reveal planned. Speakers include IP Producer Nasu, Hajime Tabata of JP UNIVERSE, development staff, and official cosplayers.

30th Anniversary Title Talk Celebrates Gaming History

The 30th Anniversary Title Talk Stage will take place on Saturday, September 19, from 11:40 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Producers from iconic franchises celebrating their 30th anniversaries will discuss the origins, evolution, and future of their respective series. The announced speakers include Masachika Kawata, Resident Evil Series Producer; Kazuhisa Wada, Persona Studio General Producer; and Hikaru Nakano, Story of Seasons Series Manager.

Red Bull Revenge Brings Street Fighter 6 Rivalries

The final day of Tokyo Game Show 2026 will feature Red Bull Revenge, an invitational Street Fighter 6 tournament scheduled for Monday, September 21, from 9:40 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

The event will showcase classic rivalries in first-to-five matches, including Big Bird versus Bonchan, Tokido versus MenaRD, Blaz versus Sahara, and LeShar versus Kawano.

The Xbox Digital Showcase 2026 is scheduled for Thursday, September 17, from 7:00 to 7:50 p.m. JST.

The broadcast will feature updates and upcoming lineup announcements from Xbox, making it one of the key online programs to watch during the opening day of Tokyo Game Show 2026.

The lineup features designs by renowned illustrator Zashikiwarashi, as well as original artwork from digital artist group ANIMAREAL. Items include T-shirts, towels, keychains, acrylic stands, mugs, and other commemorative goods.

The Tokyo Game Show 2026 Food Court will feature “30 BOOST FOOD,” a special menu created to celebrate the event’s 30th anniversary.

The commemorative menu will include limited-edition items featuring a “30% boost” in portion size or special ingredients. A mobile ordering system will also be introduced, allowing visitors to scan QR codes around the venue and place advance orders through a LINE Mini App.

Cosplay Area and Family Game Park Expand the Visitor Experience

Tokyo Game Show 2026 will offer more than game demos and stage presentations, with dedicated spaces for cosplay, families, and gaming-related activities.

The Cosplay Area will operate exclusively during the three Public Days, from September 19 to 21. It will feature photo spots, changing rooms, and luggage storage facilities for participants. Cosplayer registration will be required, with online and on-site registration available.

The newly added TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall will host the Family Game Park, which will include activities for children and families. These include the “Asobiba!” play area, “Manabiba!” learning area, and a dedicated Kids Stage.

The Game Academy Corner in Hall 1 will also give visitors a chance to learn about game development education and potential career paths from educational and research institutions.

TGS BOOSTERZ Wave 4 Completes 30 Creator Teams

Tokyo Game Show 2026 has officially completed its TGS BOOSTERZ lineup, with the fourth wave bringing the total to 30 creator teams.

The program features official ambassadors tasked with sharing the excitement of Tokyo Game Show with audiences around the world. The latest wave includes musician Takao Suzuki, VTubers Rei7 and Otora, and creators Nanami and Xiaoqi kiki.

A pre-event countdown campaign is also underway on the official TGS TikTok and YouTube Shorts accounts, with ambassadors sharing their perspectives and highlights ahead of the show.

TGS NEWS STUDIO Episode 2 Airs September 11

The second episode of TGS NEWS STUDIO, titled the “Pre-Event Special,” will air on Friday, September 11, at 7:00 p.m. JST.

The program will provide an in-depth guide to the newly released venue map, event timetable, anniversary initiatives, and official merchandise. It will also announce 10 shortlisted entries from the Gamer Senryu campaign on the official TGS X account, with guests selecting the top three grand prize winners live on air.

MC Risa Unai will host the program alongside TGS BOOSTERZ ambassadors JP, Kaori Maeda, and Yukidora.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 will take place at Makuhari Messe and TKP Tokyo Bay Makuhari Hall from September 17 to 21, 2026.

The first two days, September 17 and 18, are Business Days, while September 19–21 are Public Days. Opening hours differ between Business Days and Public Days.

The event is expected to welcome 300,000 visitors, making its 30th-anniversary edition one of the most significant gaming events of the year.
