Acer is expanding its handheld gaming lineup with the Predator Atlas 7, a compact gaming PC designed to deliver high-end performance without sacrificing portability. Alongside the new handheld, Acer has also unveiled Project DualPlay Mini, an experimental device that aims to combine gaming and mobile productivity in a single machine.
Both products were showcased during Acer’s next@acer global press conference in Berlin on September 2, 2026, putting the Predator Atlas 7 in the spotlight as the company looks to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive handheld gaming market.
Predator Atlas 7 Targets Portable PC Gaming
The Predator Atlas 7 is designed for players who want a more compact alternative to larger gaming handhelds while retaining the performance expected from Acer’s Predator brand.
The PA07-I51 model is powered by up to an Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor and can be configured with up to Intel Arc B390 graphics. Acer says the combination is aimed at delivering a high-performance Windows 11 gaming experience in a smaller form factor.
The handheld will also come with access to Xbox Game Pass, allowing players to jump into a large selection of games without having to build their library from scratch.
7-Inch 120Hz Display Designed for Gaming
At the center of the Predator Atlas 7 is a 7-inch Full HD touchscreen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The display also supports Variable Refresh Rate technology and reaches up to 500 nits of brightness. Acer has paired the panel with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and a DXC surface treatment designed to improve scratch resistance and reduce glare.
The touchscreen supports 10-point multitouch, giving the Atlas 7 flexibility beyond traditional controller-based gaming.
For PC gamers who want additional storage, the handheld supports a PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD with configurations reaching up to 1TB. Memory can also reach 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM, giving the system plenty of headroom for gaming and Windows-based applications.
Dual-Fan Cooling Keeps the Predator Atlas 7 Running
Acer is putting considerable emphasis on cooling, particularly given the performance hardware packed into the compact chassis.
The Predator Atlas 7 uses a dual-fan cooling system featuring a Predator AeroBlade metal fan alongside a secondary plastic fan. The AeroBlade fan uses 89 blades measuring just 0.1mm thick, with Acer claiming up to a 10% improvement in airflow compared with a plastic fan based on its internal testing.
The system also uses Acer’s Vortex Flow tuning, which incorporates angled internal channels to help direct hot air out of the chassis during sustained workloads.
Battery life is another major consideration for a handheld gaming PC, and Acer is offering the Predator Atlas 7 with a battery capacity of up to 80Wh. The company says the larger battery is intended to support longer gaming sessions while away from a power outlet.
Predator Atlas 7 Focuses on Comfortable Controls
Acer has also redesigned the physical shape of the handheld around longer gaming sessions.
The Predator Atlas 7 features contoured grips, an enlarged palm rest area, recessed keys and an anti-slip texture intended to provide a more secure grip. Players can choose between standard Carbon Film analog sticks or optional TMR joysticks, with Acer highlighting improved precision and anti-drift performance for the latter.
The handheld also includes Hall-effect analog triggers, giving players greater control over inputs that require varying levels of pressure, while a fingerprint reader built into the power button provides Windows Hello authentication.
The control layout includes the expected ABXY buttons, D-pad, bumpers, menu and view buttons, analog sticks and triggers, alongside dedicated buttons for PredatorSense and Xbox Game Bar. Macro buttons are also included on the left and right sides.
Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 7 Add More Flexibility
The Predator Atlas 7 isn’t limited to handheld gaming.
Two Thunderbolt 4 ports allow users to connect high-bandwidth accessories, external displays and docking solutions. A UHS-II microSD card reader also makes it possible to expand storage externally.
Wireless connectivity includes Intel Killer Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, while Acer’s PredatorSense software gives users access to system monitoring, performance modes, RGB lighting controls and gaming-related settings.
For audio, the handheld includes dual 2W speakers with DTS:X Ultra support, while Acer PurifiedVoice technology uses AI-assisted noise reduction to improve voice communication through the device’s dual microphones.
Project DualPlay Mini Blends Gaming and Productivity
Acer’s other major reveal is considerably more experimental.
Project DualPlay Mini is an 8-inch concept device that attempts to bridge the gap between a gaming handheld and a mobile productivity computer. Rather than requiring separate devices for gaming and work, Acer’s concept is designed to switch between different configurations depending on how it is being used.
The device features a flip-and-swivel design that allows it to transition between handheld and mini-laptop modes. Its built-in backlit physical keyboard is intended to provide a more traditional PC setup for genres such as first-person shooters, while the handheld configuration offers a more console-like control experience.
Project DualPlay Mini can also connect to an external display, giving users another option when they need a larger workspace.
Acer Celebrates 50 Years With Project DualPlay Mini
The concept also carries a small tribute to Acer’s history.
The back cover features the phrase “Acer 50 since 1976” represented in Morse Code, marking the company’s 50th anniversary in 2026.
Under the hood, Project DualPlay Mini uses a dual-fan cooling architecture similar to the Predator Atlas 8, including a Predator AeroBlade metal fan and a plastic fan.
However, gamers shouldn’t expect to purchase the DualPlay Mini anytime soon. Acer has confirmed that it remains a concept device, meaning there is currently no retail release planned.
Predator Atlas 7 Release Date and Availability
The Predator Atlas 7 is scheduled to become available in EMEA beginning November 2026, while its North American release is planned for Q4 2026.
Acer’s previously announced Predator Atlas 8, which debuted at Computex 2026, is scheduled to arrive in North America and EMEA during September 2026.
Acer has not provided universal pricing for the Predator Atlas 7, and exact configurations, prices and availability will vary depending on the region.
