League of Legends New Champion Locke Revealed: Full Abilities and Patch 26.13 Release Date

League of Legends

The mid lane is about to get a lot more terrifying. Riot Games has officially unveiled the next addition to the League of Legends roster: Locke, the Ashen Exorcist.

Set to debut later this month in Patch 26.13, Locke is a high-octane AP assassin heavily focused on setup, calculated risks, and explosive single-target burst. Wielding a toolkit fueled by forbidden rites and soul-pinning hardware, he is designed to reward hyper-aggressive players who know exactly when to pull the trigger.

If you have been waiting for a stylish, high-skill skirmisher to shake up your champion pool, here is everything you need to know about Locke’s lore, playstyle, and lethal ability kit.

Who is Locke, the Ashen Exorcist?

Hailing from the hypocritical heart of Demacia, Corvin Locke is the progeny of hidden occultists. Raised on lies, he learned early on that demons are not the root cause of humanity’s suffering—they are merely the consequence of it.

Equipped with a massive artifact casket chained to his back and a pocket full of deadly ritual spikes, Locke tears through the battlefield to expose the internal rot of his targets. As Locke himself puts it:

“Demons get a bad rap, but the real monsters? People.”

Narratively, Locke brings deep ties to the unfolding 2026 Runeterra lore, directly connecting to Vayne’s storyline and a brewing demonic presence across the continent.

Ability Breakdown: How to Play Locke

Locke’s overall gameplay loop revolves around a classic “mark-and-consume” mechanic. He thrives on pinning his targets down with Soul Nails before diving in to cash in on the setup.

Passive – Silver Stake

Locke pins the souls of his enemies with his basic attacks, dealing bonus magic damage On-Hit. This damage scales heavily based on the target’s missing health, making him an immediate threat to low-health targets attempting to flee a teamfight.

Q – Ritual Nails

Locke readies and hurls a cluster of Soul Nails forward, dealing magic damage and marking any enemies caught in the path. The nails apply a stacking slow effect. When Locke follows up with a basic attack, it consumes the nails to inflict bonus magic damage per stack. If you hold onto your nails and let the ability expire, a portion of the cooldown and mana cost is instantly refunded.

W – Soul Ignition

Locke breaks his own protective seals, gaining a burst of movement speed that decays over time. While active, he suffers a percentage of his own maximum health as true damage per second. However, he heals back a major portion of the damage taken, supplemented by additional healing based on his missing health and how long the seals remained unbound. The ability can be recast to end the effect early.

E – Ashen Pursuit

Locke blinks to a target location, dealing AoE magic damage upon arrival. Immediately following the blink, his next basic attack turns into a targeted dash, dealing magic damage to all enemies caught in his trajectory. Crucially, each enemy hit by this dash consumes active Soul Nails, and the entire ability cooldown resets instantly upon scoring a takedown.

R – Purgatory

Locke kicks his binding artifact casket to a target location, where it bursts open to fire chained Soul Nails at nearby enemies, dealing magic damage and applying a heavy slow.

Any marked champion whose health drops below a specific execution threshold is dragged inside the casket and killed instantly. If Locke executes an enemy, the binding duration resets on all other trapped targets. When the ability ends, the artifact seals itself on the ground; if Locke walks over to retrieve it, he permanently increases the ultimate’s execution threshold for the rest of the match and refunds a portion of the cooldown.

Release Date and Launch Skin

Players will not have to wait long to master the Ashen Exorcist. Locke is scheduled to hit live servers with the arrival of Patch 26.13 on June 24, 2026.

True to Riot Games fashion, he will not be arriving empty-handed. Locke will debut alongside a molten, train-robbing launch skin from the fan-favorite High Noon universe, sharing the thematic release with Akshan.

With an uncapped execute mechanic on his ultimate and unmatched cleanup potential via his resetting E ability, Locke is poised to be a dominant pick for solo queue climbers looking to carry from the mid lane.
