Genshin Impact Version Luna VII Launches May 20 With Nicole, New Archon Quest, and Sumeru in Chaos

Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact is heading back to Sumeru with one of its most story-heavy updates yet. HoYoverse has officially revealed Genshin Impact Version Luna VII: Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana, launching globally on May 20, 2026, bringing a brand-new Archon Quest, three playable characters, fresh events, and major lore developments that could reshape the future of Teyvat.

The upcoming update places Sumeru at the center of a growing catastrophe as Nahida falls into a mysterious slumber and a dangerous new enemy emerges with eerie similarities to Il Dottore. Alongside the story expansion, players will finally recruit Nicole, the first playable member of the Hexenzirkel, as well as new allies Lohen and Prune.

Genshin Impact Version Luna VII Returns Players to a Crisis-Torn Sumeru

The biggest highlight of Genshin Impact Version Luna VII is its new Archon Quest chapter set in Sumeru. Long regarded as the nation of wisdom, Sumeru is now spiraling toward chaos following Nahida’s unexplained condition.

As unrest spreads across the region, familiar faces including Collei, Nicole, and Ibis King Thoth are drawn into a conflict that appears tied to a resurrected threat believed to be defeated long ago.

Players who complete the limited-time Archon Quest rewards can earn up to 560 Primogems, Nicole’s Ascension Materials, and access to a powerful new Weekly Boss encounter featuring unpredictable mechanics and devastating attacks.

HoYoverse is also improving the storytelling experience with two new quality-of-life additions:

  • “Guiding Notes” story recap system
  • Enhanced quest autosave prompts

These updates aim to help both returning and active players keep track of Genshin Impact’s increasingly expansive narrative.

Nicole Becomes the First Playable Hexenzirkel Mage

One of the most anticipated additions in Genshin Impact Version Luna VII is Nicole Reeyn, the first playable member of the legendary Hexenzirkel.

Nicole Reeyn joins the roster as a 5-star Pyro Catalyst character focused on support and coordinated attacks. Described as a “voiceless angel,” Nicole introduces a unique combat style centered around empowering teammates while remaining effective off-field.

Her abilities include:

  • Teamwide ATK buffs
  • Shield generation through her Elemental Skill
  • Coordinated elemental attacks through her Elemental Burst
  • Enhanced effects tied to Hexerei mechanics

Outside combat, Nicole can summon a Seelie during exploration to help locate nearby treasure, giving exploration-focused players another valuable utility character.

Version Luna VII will also unlock the interior of the Witch’s Lodge through Nicole’s Meeting Point: The Witch’s Garden. The area will gradually expand weekly with additional stories, rooms, and hidden rewards.

Lohen Brings Aggressive Cryo Combat to Genshin Impact

Lohen enters Genshin Impact Version Luna VII as a 5-star Cryo Polearm wielder and vice captain of the Knights of Favonius’ Fifth Company.

Unlike traditional Cryo units, Lohen’s combat mechanics revolve around managing two unique resources called “Joy” and “Will to Win.” His Elemental Skill activates a special Masterstroke state that lets him unleash stronger Cryo attacks while rewarding aggressive rotations and team synergy.

Players using Hexerei characters alongside Lohen can unlock even stronger performance bonuses, making him one of the update’s most strategically flexible characters.

His accompanying Story Quest will also dive deeper into the history of the Knights of Favonius, offering fresh lore for longtime fans.

Prune Debuts as the Self-Proclaimed “Witch Hunter”

Prune rounds out the new character lineup as a quirky 4-star Anemo Catalyst user certified by none other than Alice.

Using a combination of bells and a giant hammer, Prune specializes in triggering Swirl reactions and dealing multiple types of elemental damage.

The Version Luna VII Event Wishes are split into two phases:

Phase One Banners

  • Nicole debut
  • Prune debut
  • Durin rerun

Phase Two Banners

  • Lohen debut
  • Mavuika rerun

Klee’s Little Hexenzirkel Event Headlines New Activities

Version Luna VII also introduces a brand-new limited-time event centered around Klee’s Little Hexenzirkel.

Players can participate in various mini-games alongside beloved characters including:

  • Klee
  • Qiqi
  • Yaoyao
  • Sayu
  • Prune

Meanwhile, Miliastra Wonderland will host a sports festival event, and new Manekin interactions will allow players to create more dynamic screenshots across Teyvat using the Kamera feature.

Beyond combat and story content, HoYoverse is continuing to expand Genshin Impact’s creative tools.

The update adds:
